Children are our future. A stronger tomorrow will be built by engaging young people in the development of skills and competencies today.
Actions:
4-H Youth development educators and volunteers work intentionallyt o design and conduct educational experiences in human sciences, animal sciences and environmental sciences. Young people, ages 5-18 are nurtured in caring and supportive environments by associating with positive role models and having fun!
Impacts:
- Statewide, approximately 40,000 youth are participating in 4-H programs, learning skills in leadership and responsibility. Over 8,300 youth are involved in the 550 community 4-H clubs, which enables them to lead committees, serve on planning boards and take an active role in positive community action.
- The next generation is expanding their communication and decision-making skills as they engage in challenging, experientially based learning experiences such as science special interest programs, both day and resident camps and school enrichment programs.
- Youth are gaining useful knowledge, about themselves and others, as they work independently and in small groups through adiverse offering of 140 subject matter projects.
