What is the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program (FSNEP)?

The Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Department of the Cooperative Extension has secured a grant from USDA through the Maryland Department of Human Resources that allows us to conduct classes on nutrition and nutrition-related topics that show you how to stay healthy and save money.

What is the cost? Classes are offered FREE.

What audience does FSNEP programs cater to? ~Food Stamp recipients and Food Stamp eligible families and individuals~ ~Head Start and Head Start Parents~ ~WIC Families~ ~Child Care Providers~ ~After-School Programs~ ~PTAs~ ~Housing Development Residents~ ~Disabled~ ~CHANGE~ ~Domestic Violence Shelters~ ~Senior Centers~

How are the classes designed? Classes and workshops are designed for your group's needs and may be scheduled for days and evenings and classes normally last for one hour. Length of programs may be modified to suit your needs. Series of classes will provide more complete nutrition education *Food preparation will provide samples to taste at no cost to the audience *Hands-on activities *Door prizes include recipes, magnets, lunch bags and some larger prizes *Great information packets *Hand-outs *Classes can be taught on Power Point, overhead, black board, or paper *Classed can be taught at the Extension Office or at another location.
