Programs: Marine and aquatic science programs including commercial fisheries, commercial fish and shellfish aquaculture, pond management, and control of nuisance aquatic plants. Policy development for sustainable aquaculture including Best Management Practices and identification of Aquaculture Enterprise Zones. Development of diving safety programs targeting scientific and public safety operations.
Membership: Secretary, UMCP Diving Control Board; Certified Scientific Diver; Vice-chairman, Maryland Aquaculture Coordinating Council; USDA/NOAA National Aquaculture Extension Steering Committee; Licensed MD Pesticide Applicator in Categories - Research & Demonstration and Aquatic Applicator.
Area of Expertise: Commercial Aquaculture; commercial fisheries; pond management; aquatic weed control; scientific diving operations.

Nevin Dawson - Forest Stewardship Specialist (ndawson@umd.edu)
Nevin works with forest landowners to establish and improve management on their wooded land. He coordinates and teaches educational programs on a variety of related topics, including The Woods in Your Backyard, which is targeted at owners of 1-10 acres of woodland. Other projects include a pilot program in community forest management and forestry education for municipal officers.
