Carroll County Master Gardener Program 

The Master Gardener Program is offered through the University of Maryland Extension's Environment and Natural Resources (ENR), delivering research-based education and technical assistance to help individuals, communities, and organizations conserve and responsibly manage Maryland's natural resources. 

Carroll County Extension Master Gardeners is a volunteer program that supports the UME mission by educating residents about safe, effective, and sustainable horticultural practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities. UME Carroll County also offers a range of other ENR programming in home gardening, sustainable landscaping, and environmental conservation. Environment & Natural Resource Programs in Carroll County

Master Gardener Program

The University of Maryland Extension Master Gardener Program is designed to train volunteer horticultural educators to support the University of Maryland Extension mission by educating residents about safe, effective and sustainable horticultural practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities. Volunteers receive 40 hours of classroom, hands-on, and virtual instruction in their county of residence so that they can then teach members of their community through workshops, presentations, demonstrations, and more.

Master Gardener Program in Carroll County

Carroll County Master Gardeners are volunteer representatives of the University of Maryland Extension, trained to educate citizens about effective and sustainable horticulture practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities. Master Gardeners offer landscaping problem-solving through presentations, demonstration projects, partnerships with other organizations, and public outreach activities.

Demonstration Gardens

Master Gardeners utilize demonstration gardens for hands-on teaching and self-guided tours to showcase sustainable gardening practices in Maryland. The plants featured in these gardens vary from herbaceous annuals and perennials, shrubs, and trees to fruits and vegetables. Some focus on themes such as container or pollinator gardening.

Bay-Wise Program

The Bay-Wise Living Landscapes Program is a science-based, peer education program conducted by the University of Maryland Extension (UME) that teaches Marylanders sustainable landscape and garden practices that promote clean water, healthy soil, native biodiversity, and climate-resilient communities through our statewide Master Gardener program.
