Baltimore County Master Gardeners

Hello Baltimore County!

The mission of the Baltimore County Master Gardeners is to educate Maryland residents about safe, effective, sustainable horticultural practices that build healthy gardens, landscapes, and communities.

We offer:

  • Gardening Classes (adult and children)
  • Workshops, plant clinics, and lectures
  • Compost demonstration sites
  • Certification of Bay-Wise Landscapes
  • Youth gardening projects
  • Technical help for community gardens
  • Information booths at fairs, festivals, farmers markets and county parks
  • Therapeutic horticulture programs

We can help you garden better!

Baltimore County Master Gardeners volunteers participate in "Ask A Master Gardener Plant Clinics" at local farmer markets, libraries, festivals, and more. Members of the community are encouraged to bring their gardening and landscaping questions to our table for help in diagnosing and resolving any issues.

If you would like to request a Master Gardener table at your event, please email your request with the location, date, time, contact information, and any specific topic information to BCMG.AMG@gmail.com.

Bay-Wise Program

Every Marylander lives within a watershed and has a role to play in caring for the land, water, air, wildlife, and each other. Every action we take, every small positive change we make to improve water quality, soil health, and habitat counts in a big way.

The Bay-Wise Program teaches residents how to:

  • Recycle organic yard and kitchen waste on-site.
  • Capture and use precipitation where it falls.
  • Plant and conserve a wide variety of native plants.
  • Protect pollinators and beneficial insects.
  • Reduce hazards to fish & wildlife.
  • Shrink your lawn footprint.
  • Protect our waterways and shorelines.
  • Educate friends, family, and neighbors about MD Living Landscapes practices.

If you live in Baltimore County, check out the Baltimore County Bay-Wise brochure. It's a great way to get started on becoming Bay-Wise! Any questions about the Bay-Wise program in Baltimore County, please email: bcmgbaywise@gmail.com.
