4-H Youth Development in Allegany County

4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization, empowering young people to lead, learn, and serve. The University of Maryland Extension’s 4-H program helps youth ages 5-18 reach their fullest potential through research-backed, hands-on learning experiences that build life skills, leadership, confidence, and meaningful connections to their communities. In Allegany County, youth participate in 4-H through volunteer-led clubs, school and after-school programs, and community events. Maryland 4-H programs vary by county and may be offered through clubs, camps, after-school programs, fairs, school partnerships, and community organizations. Step 1—Contact Us

Contact us at 301-724-3320 or email jparrish@umd.edu at the University of Maryland Extension office to receive information on all that Allegany County 4-H has to offer.  

Step 2—Attend a Club Meeting

Review the list of Allegany County 4-H clubs to determine which club(s) may be of interest to you. Once you decide on which club(s) you want to join, we will connect you with a club leader. You can then attend a club meeting to learn more about the club.

Once you have decided and discussed joining with the club leader, you can enroll yourself through 4-H Online.

To participate in the Allegany County Fair and Maryland State Fair as a 4-H member, you must be an enrolled and active member by May 1 of the current year.
