Anne Arundel County Master Gardener Program 

The University of Maryland Extension's Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) program delivers research-based education and technical assistance to help individuals, communities, and organizations conserve and responsibly manage Maryland's natural resources. UME ENR programs focus on protecting water quality, supporting healthy ecosystems, promoting sustainable landscapes, and increasing resilience to environmental challenges.

In Anne Arundel County, ENR programs include a robust Master Gardener program and educational opportunities in home gardening, sustainable landscaping, and environmental conservation.  These opportunities include workshops, demonstrations, community partnerships, volunteer programs, and technical resources. Master Gardener Program

Master Gardeners are volunteer representatives of the University of Maryland who are trained to educate citizens about effective and sustainable horticultural practices. Master Gardeners offer landscaping problem-solving through demonstration projects, partnerships with other organizations, and public outreach activities. Master Gardener Training

Participants earn the title of Master Gardener by completing 40 hours of training by University of Maryland Extension professionals and 40 volunteer hours.

NOTICE: Anne Arundel Master Gardener Applications and Trainings are on Hold

Applications and training for the Anne Arundel County Master Gardener program are currently on hold while UME Anne Arundel County recruits a new Coordinator. We look forward to reopening applications once the new coordinator is in place.

Friday Flash

Master Gardener volunteers send the Friday Flash newsletter weekly on Fridays.  To add something to the Friday Flash, please email aamgfridayflash@gmail.com by 12 p.m. Thursday.

AAMG Monthly Newsletter

Monthly AAMG newsletters are sent out during the first week of the month by the Master Gardener Coordinator.  Project chairs and co-chairs must submit by the second Tuesday of the month.

Speakers Bureau

Is there a topic you and your group would like to learn more about?  UME Home Horticulture Educators and the Speaker's Bureau are available to speak to garden clubs, community associations, libraries, civic groups, businesses, and other community organizations on a wide range of home-gardening topics.
