4-H Youth Development in Worcester County

4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization, empowering young people to lead, learn, and serve. The University of Maryland Extension’s 4-H program helps youth ages 5-18 reach their fullest potential through research-backed, hands-on learning experiences that build life skills, leadership, confidence, and meaningful connections to their communities.

Maryland 4-H programs vary by county and may be offered through clubs, camps, after-school programs, fairs, school partnerships, and community organizations. Contact our Extension office for more information about 4-H youth programs available in Worcester County.

Worcester County 4-H Programs

Activity Clubs of Worcester County 4-H

The Artist in You Activity Club (ages 8-18)

In this 4-H club, youth are taught different mediums of art by local professional artists.

Horse Activity Club

This club meets at least 6 times during the year and focuses on learning about equine science.

HAM Radio Club (ages 8-18)

Youth will learn about the science of HAM Radio and have the opportunity to obtain their license. 

Sewing Club (ages 8-18)

Youth learn how to hand-sew and use a sewing machine.

Flavors of Italy Club

In this 4-H club, youth will learn about different international foods and cultures. They will make a dinner for their families in the final session.

Clever Clovers Club (age 8-18)

General Projects & Experiential Learning for ages 8-18

The club focuses on a variety of projects and participates in local community parades.

Voyagers Club (age 8-18)

This 4-H Club offers a variety of fun, educational experiences. Community service projects and outreach are the focus of this club. We offer experiential learning field trips, and activities are scheduled throughout the year. 

The Voyagers participate in Operation We Care Packing for Deployed Troops twice a year. The club participates in Wreaths Across America at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury, MD, to honor veterans laid to rest there.

Nature Adventurers Club (age 5-18)

This club focuses on environmental education and community service. Many of its members are homeschooled.

Shooting Sports Club (age 8-18)

Youth ages 8-18 can learn the discipline of archery. Youth ages 10-18 for the discipline of shotgun.

Pocomoke Fun Fact Explorers Club (5-18)

The youth in this club do a variety of 4-H projects, including disc golf, aerospace, and community service.

Robotics Club (ages 8-18)

This club prepares youth for the Maryland State 4-H Robotics Competitions. 

School Enrichment Activities

In-School Programs

Worcester County 4-H partners with Worcester County Schools to offer School Enrichment Programs.

We provide 6 hours of programming to:

  • Ocean City Elementary
  • Buckingham Elementary
  • Showell Elementary

Programs are STEM-related or environmental in nature.

After School Programming

Worcester County 4-H does programming throughout the school year in the following schools:

  • Snow Hill Elementary
  • Snow Hill Intermediate
  • Berlin Intermediate
  • Buckingham Elementary

Whaleyville Country Critters 4-H Club (ages 5-18)

This club focuses on animal science.
