Environment, Natural Resources, and Sea Grant Programs
The University of Maryland Extension’s Environment, Natural Resources (ENR), and Sea Grant programs provide educational and technical support to Maryland residents who live, work, and recreate in the state’s natural areas.
Watershed Protection and Restoration Program
This program works to improve water quality and water quantity through stormwater management, restoration practices, and climate‑resilience strategies. Staff collaborate with local and state governments, watershed groups, and community organizations to:
- Build partnerships
- Identify funding opportunities
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of restoration projects
Connecting People With Science
Extension agents serve as a bridge between scientific expertise and the needs of individuals who manage, conserve, enjoy, or make their living from the Chesapeake Bay—America’s largest and most productive estuary.
Sea Grant
Through Sea Grant, the program integrates scientific research, education, and public outreach. Guided by a strategic plan, Sea Grant works to develop sound ideas and practices that enhance the health of the Chesapeake Bay and support the businesses and jobs that depend on it.
